Dr Dhaliwal's interest in medicine began with her voluntary work at a local hospital and a women's natural health clinic . As Dr Dhaliwal learned more about the healthcare system and dealt with her family's history of chronic health issues, she grew more frustrated by the lack of focus on addressing these underlying causes of illness. The recurrence of symptoms was partly due to a lack of emphasis on making lifestyle changes and setting long-term preventative objectives.
